A Tribal Modern Blend!

I have always been drawn towards tribal art & culture owing not just to the beauty of it but also it’s cultural richness. The cuts and silhouettes inspired from such tribal forms have begun to gain popularity in the Indian fashion circuit and some of the styles have also been represented by International designers. Let’s have a glance into what I did to create a similar look tweaked with a tinge of modern street style.
Heads up: I am an ardent lover of flea markets and mostly pick my clothes/ jewellery/ accessories from all any nook and corner that catches my eye.
To create this look, I picked an old dupatta from my mother’s closet to be draped around as my top or ‘choli’ and I own this very beautiful hand crafted flared skirt (Ghagra) decorated with intricate Sindhi cross stitch coming straight from the land of Kutch, Gujarat. I bought this from a flea market in Delhi and the stark contrast along with the geometrical shapes in the embroidery piqued my interest and I could instantly imagine this look.
Let’s check out!
